ANew year, new resolutions, am I right? If one of your New Year resolutions is to get in shape, then the new JBL Soundgear Sense could help. Since workouts can sometimes feel boring and monotonous, having your favorite tunes accompanying your gym sessions could motivate you.
The JBL Soundgear Sense is a pair of true wireless earbuds with an open-ear design. It utilizes air conduction to deliver sound into your ears. What this means is that unlike some earbuds where they fit snugly into your ear canals, earbuds with an air conduction design see the earbuds sit slightly outside your ear canals.
While in-ear designs offer better sound isolation and potentially sound staging, pressure can build up and it can get uncomfortable. Air conduction doesn’t have that issue, plus there is the added benefit of being able to hear your surroundings. This is useful if you’re working out outdoors and need to be aware of oncoming traffic.
The Soundgear Sense comes with four built-in microphones that should offer up better quality during calls. Thanks to its IP54 rating, it will be useful for the gym or those outdoor runs. The earbuds come with adjustable ear hooks and also a detachable neckband for added security. JBL has also equipped the earbuds with 16.2mm drivers that they claim can offer up “strong bass”.
The battery life of the Soundgear Sense is also decent. It boasts a total of 24 hours of playtime. This is broken down into 6 hours of battery for the earbuds, and 18 hours total when used with the charging case. The JBL Soundgear Sense will be available this March for $149.95.
