Right now, foldable phones have two form factors – the one that unfolds into a tablet, and one that can flip and open like a flip phone from the good old days. But if a recent report from TrendForce is accurate, Huawei could beat everyone to the punch in 2024 with a triple foldable smartphone.
The report claims that progress on the phone is moving along quite nicely and that we could actually see Huawei launch such a device as soon as March 2024. If that’s true, it could be quite exciting to see what kind of benefits such a device could bring to the table. The only problem is that Huawei is still banned from working with US companies which means no Android for now, which could hold back some users from adopting the device.
That being said, this isn’t the first time we’re hearing about such a device. Samsung has been experimenting with this form factor for a while now but have yet to launch such a product. If Huawei were to launch this phone, it would beat Samsung to the punch which could be quite the accomplishment.
As far as other foldable form factors are concerned, Motorola did recently show off a concept phone where the display and body of the phone could be bent/folded, allowing users to wear the phone on their wrist, but once again, it is unclear if such a device would ever be commercialized.
