Here are the display specs for the OnePlus 12

As the hardware in our phones have matured, it means that any gains from one generation to another tend to be marginal. This means that handset makers need to find new and creative ways to differentiate their phones from the competition. With the OnePlus 12, it could be in its display.

There have been rumors suggesting that the OnePlus 12 could feature a super bright display, and the company recently confirmed a partnership with BOE which seems to allude to that. Now thanks to leaked specs, we might have a better idea of what to expect from the OnePlus 12’s display.

This is according to a report from 91mobiles who managed to get a look at a demo unit of the OnePlus 12 and based on what they’ve learned, the OnePlus 12 will come with a 2K display that uses an LTPO panel, meaning that its refresh rate could be adaptive. This means that instead of being fixed, it could have a wider range where the phone could drop to a 10Hz refresh rate for static images, and then go up to 120Hz (or higher) for things that are moving, like when the user is scrolling through a website, for example.

It will also use what is being called a “sunlight-highlighting algorithm” that improves visibility outdoors, and it could also utilize Oppo’s P1 display chip and BOE’s “single-pixel calibrating technology” which could result in colors looking better with less noise. It has also been rumored to utilize BOE’s new display panel which is 13% lower in power consumption, leading to longer-lasting battery life.

OnePlus hasn’t announced when the OnePlus 12 will be launched, but it is largely expected to take place by the end of the year, so until then take it with a grain of salt.
