Samsung Retains Top Global Market Share, Research Shows

0

Samsung’s dominance as the top Android smartphone brand has been evident for many years now, and it seems that the South Korean electronics giant has once again secured the number one spot, according to market data from research firm Counterpoint Statistics.

More specifically, Samsung was able to secure a fifth of the total sales in Q3 2023 thanks to its popular A-series smartphones, which continue to outsell its flagship devices and foldables. Meanwhile, Apple came in second place with 16% market share, followed by Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo. Additionally, brands including Honor, Huawei, and Transsion Group gained considerable market share, resulting in YoY growth in Q3.

Counterpoint Research adds that in terms of regional markets, the Middle East and African region was the only one to record YoY growth in Q3, thanks to improvements with macroeconomic indicators. By comparison, developed markets like the USA, Western Europe and South Korea showed severe declines.

It’s also expected that most developed markets will see some growth in Q4 largely due to the delayed effect of the launch of the new iPhones. For the rest of 2023 however, the market will most likely experience continued decline, which is attributed to a shift in how consumers often replace their devices, especially in developed markets.
