One of the features of Google’s Pixel 8 smartphones is its always-on display. The tech has been around for a while and many other manufacturers have used it without much issue, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with the Pixel 8 as user reports shared on Reddit have revealed that some users are encountering pink text.
According to these posts, it seems that when the always-on display is enabled, some portions of the phone’s display are showing text in pink. We’re not talking about pink-colored fonts here. It appears that there could be something wrong with the display panel that is causing some portions of the display to display a different color compared to the other areas.
This has resulted in some text showing up in some kind of pink gradient. It is unclear if this is a software or hardware issue because the majority of reports are from users running the stable version of the Pixel 8’s software, but there are also some reports from users who are running the Android 14 QPR1 Beta.
This is not the first time Google’s Pixel phones have encountered display issues. We’ve seen this dating back to phones like the Pixel 2 and even the Pixel 6 have had some kind of display-related issue. Hopefully this is a software problem that can be fixed with a patch, otherwise Google might need to start entertaining device returns or exchanges.
