During Google’s launch of the Pixel 8 smartphones, the company also revealed their AI plans for the future, including a new “Assistant with Bard” feature that would basically integrate Bard into Google Assistant, giving the virtual assistant a boost in its AI capabilities.
We expect that feature will make its way onto Google’s Pixel phones, but a recent report from 9to5Google has revealed that non-Pixel phones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S24 could be getting access to the feature as well.
This is based on an APK teardown of the beta for the Google app, specifically version 14.41 in which it suggests that phones like the Pixel 8, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy S24 will be among the first to get access to it.
What’s interesting about this teardown is that just the other day, we reported that Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series is expected to introduce a bunch of new AI features that would be more powerful than what Bixby has to offer at the moment. It is unclear if this boost in AI would be something Samsung themselves are working on, or if it could be related to this recent discovery.
Given how closely Samsung and Google have been working together in the past few years, we suppose it shouldn’t be too surprising that Samsung’s phones would be among the first non-Pixel phones to gain access to this feature, but either way take it with a grain of salt for now until more details can be had.
