Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 beats Motorola Razr Plus in hinge durability test

Remember the other day we reported on an ongoing live hinge durability test between the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Motorola Razr Plus? As it turns out, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 proved to be the stronger of the two.

In the video by Mrkeybrd, it seems that during the course of their hinge test, the Motorola Razr Plus’ display broke at 126,266 folds. By “broke” we don’t mean it actually snapped off, but it seems that the screen was folded enough times to the point where the display actually failed and showed a line across its screen.

Keep in mind that the phone itself is still functional and the display appears to still work, it just has an ugly line running down it, whereas with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, it appears to still be in great condition. The test is still ongoing just to see how much further the Flip 5 can go compared to the Razr Plus.

Samsung had recently stated that their new foldable phones are rated for about 200,000 folds (30,000 folds in extreme cold weather), so it looks like the phone has the potential to hit that mark. Will it fall short of 200,000 or will it actually go further than that? We guess we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime if you are curious, you can check out the live test in the video above, assuming it’s still going on when you’re reading this.
