Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 6 Classic smartwatches are now official

0

When Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 5 series last year, they took away the Classic model, which also meant that the rotating bezel feature was gone. It was a pity because it is a pretty useful hardware feature, allowing users to interact with their watch without having to touch the display.

The good news is that if you missed that feature, it’s back. Samsung has taken the wraps off their latest wearables, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic.

Externally, Samsung hasn’t really changed the design, at least not in an obvious way. Instead, Samsung has opted for more subtle changes. For starters, they’ve bumped up the size of the displays across the board. The smaller model now sports a 1.3-inch display, while the larger model boasts a 1.5-inch display. The differences might not be too obvious, but it will allow for better viewing and interaction, especially if you have larger hands and fingers.

Under the hood, Samsung’s very own Exynos W930 chipset can be found along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. In terms of battery, we’re looking at a 300mAh battery on the smaller model, and a 425mAh battery on the larger model, both of which are also a step up from the previous generation.

In terms of features, users can look forward to a bevy of health and fitness related features. For example, there will be a more optimized sleep tracker and users can look forward to things like Sleep Score Factors. Users can get more detailed info about their sleep through Sleep Messages that were developed alongside the National Sleep Foundation. There will also be things like Sleep Consistency, and even a Sleep Animal Symbol that categorizes users into their sleep types.

Samsung will also be introducing a new Personalized Heart Rate Zone so users can get a better idea of the intensity of their workouts and their fitness levels. Users can also do things like create custom workouts.

Speaking of workouts, users can also look forward to support from third-party health and fitness apps, like Peloton and MyFitnessPal, and for those who want to use their watch for productivity, you can expect support from Google Calendar and Gmail.

If the Galaxy Watch 6 is a wearable you might be interested in, pre-orders go live today with the Galaxy Watch 6 priced starting at $299.99, while the larger, more premium Galaxy Watch 6 with the rotating bezel will be priced starting at $399.99.
