One of the biggest perks of being a content creator on YouTube is that the platform allows you to earn some extra revenue on the side, which has undoubtedly been one of the biggest draws of the platform in recent times. With that said though, meeting YouTube’s monetization requirements is no easy feat, and requires hours of dedication.
Things will be changing soon however – YouTube has recently announced some updated policies which will make earning revenue a bit easier for new creators.
Channels will now have the chance to make use of YouTube Fan Funding Features with considerably lower requirements, including 3,000 watch hours over the past year (or alternatively, 3 million shorts views in the past 90 days), three public uploads in the last 90 days, and a minimum of 500 subscribers.
Upon meeting these requirements, content creators will have access to Super Chats, Super Thanks, Super Stickers, Channel Memberships, and be able to sell merchandize with YouTube Shopping’s Merch Shelf. It should be noted though that monetization via ad revenue will still require channels to meet requirements of 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time.
