Hublot’s latest smartwatch is more form than function

0

Many in the traditional watch industry dismissed the concept of smartwatches when they first launched, but over the years and seeing the success of wearables, some of them have had a change of heart and come on board.

If you’re looking for a new smartwatch that is made by a traditional watchmaker, then you might be interested to learn that Swiss luxury brand, Hublot, has unveiled their latest wearable in the form of the Big Bang E Gen 3.

As expected from Hublot, the company has not compromised on the design or the use of luxurious materials, such as a case made from microblasted polished black ceramic, giving the watch a nice and luxurious finish without being too over the top. It also features a sapphire display that will make it quite resistant to scratches.

Unfortunately, apart from its design, the Hublot Big Bang E Gen 3 is kind of a disappointment under the hood. The watch is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset which, don’t get us wrong, is a totally capable chipset. It’s just that this chipset was announced back in 2020 and there have been many newer, more powerful, more feature-rich, and more energy efficient models released since.

We suppose customers who opt to buy this watch are more interested in the design and Hublot’s branding, so if you have $5,400 to spare and are a fan of the brand, then perhaps this could be a watch right up your alley.
