Qualcomm has adopted the practice of releasing two flagship chipsets a year, with the latter being a slightly faster version of the first flagship launched in the earlier part of the year. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 is already in testing.

This is according to tipster Digital Chat Station who shared a post on Weibo where they claim that the chipset is being tested out by several Chinese smartphone brands, such as Xiaomi, Oppo, iQoo, and Meizu, just to name a few.

The tipster went on to claim that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 isn’t expected to bring about any major changes, and that the main difference is that it will be overclocked. They did warn that the price of chipset has increased by quite a bit, which means that we can expect that phones using the chipset will be pricier than what we would normally expect.

That being said, the potential launch of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 doesn’t come as a surprise. Qualcomm did something similar last year with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which will be making its way into the upcoming Nothing Phone (2). Qualcomm hasn’t officially announced anything yet so take this report with a grain of salt for now.
