A cheaper Google Pixel Tablet could be in the works

0

Google announced the Pixel Tablet a couple of weeks ago. Priced at $499, it’s not the cheapest, especially since its specs aren’t exactly the most amazing or the most exciting that we’ve seen in a tablet.

The upside is that it does come bundled with the speaker dock, turning the tablet into a smart display if you wanted it to. But if you don’t, you could be in luck. According to a post from 9to5Google, they have shared renders of what appears to be the Pixel Tablet in black, which was not announced by Google during the tablet’s launch.

According to speculation by PhoneArena, they have suggested that this black variant could be launched without its accompanying dock, which in theory could make the tablet a bit more affordable. The publication points out that since all the docks are available in colors matching the tablet, the fact that the black version does not have a matching dock indicates that it could be launched without it.

Keep in mind that this is just speculation and for all we know, the tablet could have a matching black dock if and when it launches. It would be nice if Google gave users the option to buy it without the dock because some people might just want the tablet and not the dock. Either way, take it with a grain of salt but hopefully Google will have something to share soon.
