Mobvoi’s Upcoming Wearable Might Launch Soon

0

Several months back, we got word that Mobvoi is planning to launch its successor to the TicWatch Pro 3 – the TicWatch Pro 5 – sometime this year. More recently, the company also organized a promo campaign via its social media channels, offering fans the chance to win the TicWatch Pro 5.

The promo runs until May 23, and it’s highly speculated that Mobvoi will officially launch the wearable around this date.

The TicWatch Pro 5 was previously leaked in a Tweet by Kuba Wojciechowski, showing a near-similar design to the brand’s current flagship smartwatch, the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra. The device was first revealed several months ago through a post from Mobvoi themselves, although there has yet to be a “formal” announcement of sorts regarding its full specs sheet.

Mobvoi has been in hot water lately though, following several complaints about the delayed Wear OS 3 update for the TicWatch Pro 3 series and the TicWatch E3.

In a post on its official Twitter page, the company stated that the delayed Wear OS 3 update was in part due to the SDW4100 chipset and proprietary dual system architecture onboard, which require “architecture upgrades and performance debugging” in order to update compatible hardware to Wear OS 3.

As for the TicWatch Pro 5, we can only hope that it launches with Wear OS 3 onboard and zero update delays.
