Amazon just ruined one of Google I/O’s announcements
We’ve known since last year that Google has a new Pixel Tablet in the works. The company confirmed as such but stopped short on the details. It is widely believed that Google will be making the tablet official this week at I/O 2023, but it looks like a listing on Amazon might have given away all the details.
This is according to a post on Reddit by u/betterpasta who discovered the listing. According to the listing, it seems that the upcoming Pixel Tablet will come with a 10.95-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2560×1600. There is no mention of a refresh rate, so there is a good chance it will be your standard 60Hz.
Under the hood, the Google Tensor G2 chipset can be found, which is the same chipset used in the Pixel 7 phones from 2022, so we should be able to expect similar-ish performance. It will also be accompanied by 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 128-256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and 8MP cameras on both the front and back of the device.
Now, it might not sound like a particularly exciting tablet, but keep in mind that this tablet is also meant to function as a smart display of sorts for your connected smart home appliances, so while it might not necessarily be the most feature rich or powerful tablet out there, the dual functionality might appeal to some.
Also, the listing on Amazon has priced the tablet at 79,800 JPY which is roughly around $590 after conversion. We expect the US price won’t be exactly the same, but we can expect that it should be around that range.
