Earlier this month, ASUS confirmed their plans to launch the ASUS ROG Ally. The device was initially teased on April Fools, leading many to believe it was a joke, but was later confirmed to be the real deal.
Now thanks to a report from The Verge, potential pricing of the upcoming device has been leaked. This leak comes from multiple sources, such as Roland Quandt, Wickedkhumz, and SnoopyTech, suggesting that the top of the line version of the ASUS ROG Ally with the AMD Z1 Extreme chip will be priced at $699.99.

For those unfamiliar, the ASUS ROG Ally is designed to be a competitor to Valve’s Steam Deck. For context, the base 64GB model of the Steam Deck is priced at $399, while the top of the line model with 512GB of storage is priced at $649. This means that if this pricing is accurate, ASUS’ take on the Steam Deck will be priced about $50 more than what Valve is offering at the moment.
You could argue that that the ASUS ROG Ally will use newer tech which is why it might be priced higher, but since the Steam Deck is still quite popular and can still play many games without an issue, we have to wonder if the additional $50 is worth it to keep yourself as futureproofed as possible.
In any case, nothing has been confirmed yet in terms of pricing, but hopefully ASUS will have something official to announce soon.
