Google Authenticator just got a lot easier to use across multiple devices

Passwords are no longer as secure as they used to be, simply because people make terrible choices when it comes to their passwords, meaning that they can be easily hacked. If you use the same password across multiple accounts, then having multiple services compromised at the same time is a very real possibility.

This is why 2FA is the rage these days, where the use of one-time generated codes makes it harder for people to break into your accounts, even if they know your passwords. Google Authenticator is an app that helps generate these codes, and for those who use it, there is some good news for you.

Google has announced an update to the app where it will now support Google Account synchronization. What this means is that if you have multiple devices, you can install Google Authenticator on them and have them synched up as long as you’re signed into the same Google account.

Google notes that this was a highly-requested feature, especially from users who might have lost their old devices or replaced them. Previously, users had to set everything up again, but now that it can sync with your Google Account, you just need to install the app on your new device, login, and you’re good to go.
