Earlier this year, Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, but as per the rumors, Xiaomi was said to be working on an Ultra variant that would be even more impressive than what the company had already revealed.
The company later announced that the handset would be announced on the 18th of April, and sure enough they have.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is pretty much like any other flagship phone. It is powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It also comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, making it a beast when it comes to reading and writing data, and users will be able to choose from 12GB RAM or 16GB RAM configurations, and up to 1TB of storage.
On the display front, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will feature a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This is similar to the Xiaomi 13 Pro, but the difference is that the Ultra’s display has a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, so if high visibility is important to you, this phone could be it.
Now, so far the phone sounds like your typical flagship phone in 2023, but here’s where it gets different and in a good way. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra continues the company’s partnership with Leica for its cameras and on paper, they sound pretty impressive.
The phone packs a quad set of lenses on the back that consists of a 12mm ultra-wide angle lens, a 23mm wide angle, a 75mm telephoto, and a 120mm super-telephoto. The camera software also allows users to enter a “professional” mode that will give them more control over certain aspects, like setting variable aperture. The main camera is also powered by the 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor which should allow for higher quality image capture.
There is even a new “Fast Shot” mode that lets users quickly snap photos and then set the focus point later during the editing stage, making it perfect for users to capture images in the moment without worrying about focus.
Other features of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra include what Xiaomi is calling a toroidal cooling system, along with a larger 5,000mAh battery with support for 90W charging.
In terms of pricing, the 12G+256G model is priced at RMB 5,999, 16G+512G at RMB 6,499, and the 16GB+1TB will go for RMB 7,299. There is currently no word on whether the handset will be launched outside of China, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
