Watch out Samsung, the Xiaomi 13 Pro is here to challenge the crown

0

Xiaomi has taken the wraps off several new handsets at MWC 2023. They have the mid-ranger Xiaomi 13 Lite, then the base flagship Xiaomi 13, but if you’re looking for the absolute best of the best that Xiaomi has to offer, then perhaps the Xiaomi 13 Pro could be worth taking a look at.

Right off the bat, we should note that the differences between the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro aren’t that many. Both phones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset so in terms of performance, they are more or less the same. The main difference would be in its RAM, where the Pro model has a base of 12GB of RAM.

The display on the Pro is also slightly larger coming in at 6.73-inches. It will also see an increase in display resolution to WQHD+, but it too will feature an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate that can go from 1Hz to 120Hz depending on the situation at hand. There will also be support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, and Pro HDR.

As for its cameras, the Xiaomi 13 Pro will also feature a set of cameras that were developed together with Leica as part of their partnership. There will be a 23mm f/1.9 main camera that features a 50MP Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor, which is pretty insane as 1-inch sensors are generally found on mirrorless or DSLR cameras.

It will support 8K video recording, Dolby Vision up to 4K at 60 fps, and what Xiaomi is calling its ProFocus mode. In addition to the 1-inch sensor, the Xiaomi 13 Pro will also feature a 75mm f/2.0 Leica floating telephoto camera with OIS, and a 14mm f/2.2 Leica ultrawide camera with a 115-degree field of view.

Similar to the Xiaomi 13, there will be some Leica-focused software for its camera including Leica Authentic Look and Leica Vibrant Look.

The Xiaomi 13 also has a protective rating of IP68, meaning that it will be resistant to both water and dust. In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi 13 Pro will come with support for 5G as well as WiFi 7. The handset will be available in either a Ceramic Black or Ceramic White finish and will be priced starting at €1,300.
