Samsung recently announced that it’ll be giving gamers a taste of what to expect with its “Odyssey” line of smart gaming monitors with the “Odyssey Universe,” an in-game “experience” of sorts based on its monitor hardware range.
More specifically, the Odyssey Universe is a custom map that will be accessible to players on Fortnite. The map is divided into five different spaces named after several Samsung Odyssey models, including the Level Ark as well as Level G9∙G8∙G7∙G6 (named after products like the Odyssey Neo G9 and G8). The different spaces will have their own missions for players to clear, including different objectives and rewards during gameplay.
The Odyssey Universe will have an official launch event of sorts, where players can log onto Twitch and see the maps in action via Samsung’s Odyssey Twitch channel on March 23 at 2PM (EST).
This isn’t the first time that Samsung has collaborated with Fortnite – a while back, the company’s flagship Galaxy S23 phones (as well as a few other products) showed up via a different custom map in the game. Players were also able to interact with the different Samsung hardware, at least virtually.
It’s certainly an interesting move in Samsung’s part, and only time will tell if this approach to marketing will have any impactful effects on brand recognition and adoption among consumers.
