TCL’s efforts towards brand recognition and increased marketshare with mainstream consumers have resulted in some rather interesting hardware from the company. Primarily known for its monitors and TVs, TCL has branched out to more product offerings including smartphones and tablets, and even audio accessories.
Which is why it’s unsurprising that we’re seeing more TCL Android products aimed at consumers now – as such, the company has announced its latest batch of Android devices at MWC 2023, which come with some interesting features. Let’s check out what they have to offer.
TCL NXTPAPER 11 and TCL TAB 10
To start things off, we have two tablets in the lineup, which include the TCL NXTPAPER 11 and TCL TAB 11. As expected, there are some key differences between the two tablets – the NXTPAPER 11 comes with TCL’s NXTPAPER 2.0 technology, which is designed to reduce eye strain, as well as screen glare and automatic color-temperature adjustment which TCL says provides improved viewing experiences. As for hardware, the NXTPAPER 11 comes with the following details:

- Added stylus compatibility
- Comes in Digital Lavender, Dark Grey
- Quad-speaker set-up,

Meanwhile, the TCL TAB 11 is geared towards media consumption, especially with the large display and battery, which should be more than enough for several hours of streaming your favorite shows and music. It does come with very similar features to the NXTPAPER 11, although the screen lacks the NXTPAPER 2.0 add-on. It features the following:

- Comes in Digital Lavender, Dark Grey
- Quad-speaker set-up,
- OS: Android 13
- MediaTek Helio P60T SoC
- GPU: Imagination PowerVR GE8320

- 8MP rear camera, 8MP front camera
- 4GB RAM, expandable 128GB storage
- Starts from $179 available from May 2023, LTE version at $209
TCL also introduced a trio of Android handsets in addition to its tablets, which now expand its mobile phone offering. The new phones form the TCL 40 series, and are headed to US markets soon. it should be noted that they also come with affordable pricing, and are intended to compete with other competing devices in the entry-level segment. TCL 40 XE 5G
First up we have the TCL 40 XE 5G, which is TCL’s most affordable 5G phone to date. The phone is set to ship in June, and will come in at $169, making it more affordable compared to other entry-level phones on the market. It also features TCL’s NXTVISION display technology, which gives users 90Hz refresh rate and a 180Hz sampling rate.
In terms of design, the phone sports a pretty familiar look, with a notch-chin combo that’s commonly seen on a lot of budget-friendly devices. It’s nothing fancy, although it sticks to a tried-and-tested (albeit older) design.

TCL 40 X 5G
Up next is the TCL 40 X 5G, which comes with a similar look and specs to the 40 XE. The phone’s design mirrors that of its more affordable sibling, although the X 5G isn’t that much expensive, as the phone starts at $199 (with a launch scheduled for June).
One big difference though is that the X 5G ups the megapixel count on its main camera, which should provide for better imaging capabilities compared to the XE.

TCL 40 XL
The last in this new lineup is the TCL 40 XL, which is the most affordable of the bunch, scheduled to launch in May this year for $149. One differentiating factor that sets it apart from its other Series 40 siblings is the chipset, which takes things down a notch.
While it does come with a very similar design, the 40 XL features a larger display compared to the XE and X, although it retains TCL’s NXTVISION technology. It also comes with double the internal storage at 128GB.

With all this being said, the US entry-level market is sure to be more interesting, especially since other brands like Nokia have made a return of sorts in pushing smartphones for budget-conscious buyers.
