Nokia’s Upcoming Product is a Video Game Controller

0

A few months back, we mentioned that a Nokia-branded game controller is in the works, and it seems like the initial leaks have proven to be true. Dubbed the “5000GC,” the controller has recently appeared in a number of leaked photos before its official launch.

In terms of styling, the Nokia 5000GC will maintain a “standard” design as far as game controllers go, with a recognizable shape that houses your usual array of face buttons, directional pad, shoulder and trigger buttons, analog sticks, as well as additional inputs for menus and connectivity. The controller also includes a dedicated Google Assistant button, which is an interesting addition that points to its other features, aside from serving as a wireless gamepad.

Based on the photos, the 5000GC will be compatible with Android TVs, Android streaming devices, and of course Android smartphones. Other features include 14 hours of usage, two hours charging time, as well as USB-C compatibility for wired connectivity and charging. It should also be noticed that the controller comes as a result of a licensing agreement between Nokia and manufacturer StreamView, a European company which has previously worked on Nokia-branded OLED and LDC TVs, as well as smart-streaming TV boxes.

No formal release date has been mentioned, but it’s expected that the controller will go for around 52-53 Euros.
