OnePlus debuts their first-ever mechanical keyboard

0

OnePlus might be known by many as a maker of smartphones and mobile accessories like earbuds, but it seems that the company is starting to branch out into non-mobile related products as well.

Some of you might recall that the other day, teaser images hinted at the company’s plan to launch their own mechanical keyboard, and sure enough they have. This comes in the form of the OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro, a mechanical keyboard that was designed using Keychron’s technology.

This keyboard features a 75% layout, meaning that it does away with the number pad you might find on most typical keyboards, and also a reduced navigation cluster, which is perfect if you’re looking for something a bit more compact. It features a CNC aluminum case and uses what OnePlus calls “Marble-mallow” keycaps, which are made from a thermoplastic material that is said to create a softer bounce in each press.

The keyboard also features a hotswappable PCB, meaning that users can easily remove the built-in switches for something else that they might prefer. It is also both QMK and VIA compatible, giving users more flexibility when it comes to customizing what each key does when pressed.

There is currently no word on how much the OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro will cost, but for those who are interested, they can sign up to be notified on the OnePlus website.
