Samsung’s Latest Galaxy Watch 4 Update is Bricking some Units

0

If you own a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and are looking to install the latest software update for your device, then you might want to hold off on getting the update at the time being – reports are coming in regarding several cases of bugs after a number of users installed the latest update for the device.

A report from the folks over at Sammobile points out that update version number R8xxXXU1GVI3 for the Galaxy Watch 4 has resulted in some users ending up with bricked and unusable units after updating. So far, the problem seems to affect Galaxy Watch 4 owners in different regions. This bug affects the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic as well.

The report states that once the update has been installed and the watch happens to turn off, the device will fail to turn back on again. It seems that for the meantime, keeping the Watch powered on helps to avoid the bug, that is until Samsung releases an emergency update to resolve this issue.

Fortunately, the issue only affects Galaxy Watch 4 units, and so far there have been no reports of Galaxy Watch 5 devices suffering from the same update defect.
