Devialet just launched their first-ever portable Bluetooth speaker

If you’re into audio products like speakers, chances are Devialet is a name you’ve heard of before. The company is probably best known for their Phantom speakers which are rightfully very impressive sounding, but comes at a steep price.

If you do love the company’s products and sound signature, then you might be interested to learn that Devialet has since expanded on their portfolio which now includes the company’s first ever portable Bluetooth speaker, the Devialet Mania.

Featuring a spherical design, the Mania is definitely not your typical Bluetooth speaker. There are four full-range speakers built into the top of the device, each pointing in a separate direction, which means that no matter where you sit, you will be able to hear the sound equally. This is versus traditional speakers which usually face in one direction, so moving away from that direction means the sound will change.

There are also built-in microphones that are used to help detect when it is placed next to a wall, in which the Mania can then determine which speakers to best use to deliver optimal sound. The microphones will also help power Amazon’s Alexa which will be integrated into the speaker, so you can use it as a smart speaker for your smart home devices as well.

There will be support for multiple wireless protocols such as WiFi and Bluetooth, and will also work with AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect. The built-in battery is rated at 10 hours, but this will obviously depend on your usage.

That being said, the Devialet Mania will not come cheap. It is priced at $790 which as far as Bluetooth speakers are concerned, is a premium, but if you’re looking for something unique, it could be worth checking out.
