Way back in 2017, Google officially dipped their toes into the video doorbell market which is dominated by Ring by announcing the Nest Doorbell. For those who liked the original or for those who want more alternatives to Ring, then you might be interested to learn that it seems more or less a given that a new model could be officially announced at Google’s Pixel event this Thursday.
This is according to a report from 9to5Google in which one of their readers spotted the second-gen Nest Doorbell on the shelves at their local Best Buy, along with a list price of $179.99, making it cheaper than the original model which launched at $229.
Now, to be fair, Google did confirm way back in September 2021 that they are working on a new Nest Doorbell, but seeing as it is a year later, we’re sure some are wondering what might have become of it. If this sighting is accurate, it looks like the device is very much alive and well and that Google will most likely be officially announcing it this Thursday.
There have also been more recent rumors from last month suggesting that the event would not only reveal the new Pixel smartphones and Pixel Watch, but could also see Google update its Nest lineup of smart home products. We’ll learn more this Thursday, so be sure to check back with us then for all the official details.
