Nintendo’s Switch Online App Gets New Updates

0

Following the launch of its newest game – Splatoon 3 – Nintendo has rolled out some updates for its Nintendo Switch Online companion app for Android and iOS, with some nice additions to boot.

Users who have the Switch Online app on their phones will now be able to add Splatoon 3 widgets to their home screen. Of course, you’ll need to be logged into your Nintendo Network ID, with the app updated to the latest version 2.3.0. The new updates will now allow users to pin battle logs, stage schedules, current gear, as well as a photo album.

While Splatoon 3 itself isn’t available for mobile gaming platforms, Nintendo has nevertheless made some of its other IP available for smartphones, albeit with toned-down gameplay. One of its most popular mobile games is Fire Emblem Heroes – the game was the company’s top revenue-earner during Q1 2022, earning more than $29 million as a result of global player spending, despite only generating 121,000 new downloads during the quarter. With that said, it would be nice to see a Splatoon port on mobile phones, given the game’s competitive online FPS elements and mechanics.

If you still haven’t tried out the Switch Online App, you can simply head to the Google Play Store to get it for free.
