One of the chief complaints about the Apple Watch is its price. While it’s not ridiculously expensive like the iPhone, sitting at $399, it does put it well above the competition. Despite the price tag, the Apple Watch still manages to become one of the most popular wearables in the market today.
It looks like Google wants a slice of those profits because according to a report from 9to5Google, they have seen a photo of a retail scanner that shows the upcoming Pixel Watch from Google to be priced starting at $349.99 for the Bluetooth/WiFi-only model. This puts it slightly cheaper than the Apple Watch, but at the same time makes it more expensive than other wearables like those from Fitbit (which Google also owns), Samsung, and so on.
Prior to this, the publication had shared that the Pixel Watch could be priced at $399.99 for the cellular model, so the pricing of $349.99 for the Bluetooth/WiFi-only model kind of makes sense. We’re not sure how well customers are expected to react to this pricing, especially since it would be Google’s first foray into the smartwatch market with the Pixel brand, and also based on the rumors that the Pixel Watch’s hardware could be kind of dated.
Either way, we should have more information come October 6 which is when Google will be announcing the Pixel 7 smartphones, and we also expect that this is where Google will reveal more details about other products including the Pixel Watch.
