Upcoming Google Chromecast HD could cost $30

0

We have been hearing the rumors that Google could be working on a new Chromecast dongle with Google TV baked into it. It is largely expected that this dongle could be unveiled next month during the company’s Pixel event, and now thanks to the latest rumors, we have an idea of how much it could cost.

According to a tweet by SnoopyTech, they are claiming that the Chromecast HD is expected to cost $30. It was previously tweeted that it would cost $40, but apparently that was a mix up as the $40 price tag was in Canadian dollars, and that $30 would be how much the device could cost when it launches in the US.

In a way it makes sense because the rumors claim that this particular model will only offer 1080p output. The 4K Chromecast is priced at $50 in the US, and the third-gen regular Chromecast is going for $30, so maintaining the $30 price tag seems about right, although it might actually be better considering that it has Google TV built into it, making it a quick and easy way for users to turn their dumb TVs into smart ones.

Google will be hosting its Pixel event on the 6th of October. The event does confirm that the new Pixel phones will launch but it is unclear if other Google products will make an appearance or if it will arrive at a later date, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
