When the iPhone 14 Pro series was announced, one of the new hardware changes was the replacement of the notch cutout in favor of a pill cutout, but instead of hiding it, Apple leaned into it by creating a new software feature called Dynamic Island that basically turned it into a pseudo secondary display of sorts.
It is admittedly a clever idea, and in the near future, there is a chance that some Android phones could be getting something similar as well. This is thanks to the efforts of a Mi Theme developer who has created something along the same lines for Xiaomi’s smartphones, specifically MIUI.

This is going to be part of one of the themes for MIUI that users can select which the developer is calling “Grumpy UI”. From what we can tell in the video above, it is pretty much the exact same thing as Apple’s Dynamic Island feature. The feature isn’t live yet as it is still pending review and approval from Xiaomi, but assuming it passes, Xiaomi users will be able to take advantage of it.
We’re not sure if in the future will other Android phones be getting similar treatment, or if Google could implement something similar that would be available for all Android devices regardless of brand, but what do you think? Would you like to see Dynamic Island make its way onto Android?
