Samsung will be officially unveiling its new foldable phones on the 10th of August, but it looks like Xiaomi won’t be sitting back and letting Samsung hog the limelight. Following a leak by Ice Universe which suggested that the Mi Mix Fold 2 will be launching this month, Xiaomi has since confirmed it to be true in a post on Weibo.
According to Xiaomi, their next foldable will be officially announced on the 11th of August, a day after Samsung makes their announcement. Details are scarce at this point, but we’re only a few days away from the 11th so we won’t have to wait too long for Xiaomi to make the specs and features of the phone official.
That being said, given that Xiaomi’s previous foldables never officially made it to the US, there’s a good chance the Mi Mix Fold 2 won’t either, which means that only those living in China will be able to get their hands on it. Regardless though, Xiaomi’s launch will add more competition to the market, especially in China.
What’s interesting about Xiaomi’s choice of date is that we have heard that Motorola is also planning on officially unveiling their Razr 2022 foldable phone on the 11th of August, which means that this week alone, there will be stiff competition in the foldables space, so it will be interesting to see which device will be able to remain in the spotlight.
