T-Mobile’s OnePlus 8, 8T are finally receiving OxygenOS 12

0

Earlier this year, OnePlus pushed out the stable OxygenOS 12 update to both the OnePlus 8 and 8T. But for those living in the US, it was a different story because usually updates need to pass carrier approval first before being released.

The good news is that if you’re still holding onto your OnePlus 8 or 8T, which are some of the cheapest phones at the moment, you might be pleased to learn that T-Mobile’s version of the OnePlus 8 and 8T are now receiving its OxygenOS 12 update. This update won’t only contain the Android 12 update, but will also introduce the July 2022 Android security patch, so you’ll be getting all the new Android 12 features along with a bump in security.

The update should be pushed out to users as we speak, but according to the changelog, it mentions that the update will automatically take place starting from the 5th of August, so if you don’t do anything, your phone will still receive the update.

Some of the changes that users can expect include all the new features of Android 12. We’re talking about features like a privacy dashboard, Google’s new Material You design language that will also be able to offer dynamic color themes, and more. So if the OnePlus 8 or 8T is still your daily driver, this update should help breathe some new life into your smartphone.
