ASUS Releases Bootloader Unlock Tool for Zenfone 9

0

One of the best features of Android is that a lot of devices can be easily tweaked with in-depth customization to suit the most personalized of tastes and user requirements. Following the release of its latest smartphone, the Zenfone 9, ASUS has finally released the device’s kernel source code, firmware source, as well as a Bootloader unlock tool.

Users who wish to unlock the phone’s bootloader must obtain a model-specific app to initiate the unlock process. This involves an .APK file which needs to be installed on the smartphone. It should be noted that unlocking the bootloader on the Zenfone 9 will void the warranty. Additionally, the process will require a factory reset which will erase all pre-existing data on the phone, as well as a loss of OTA updates to the device. This means that future updates will have to be installed manually.

The Zenfone 9 comes with a rather compact size thanks to the 5.9-inch OLED display, a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, 16GB of RAM, up to 256GB of internal storage, as well as a dual-camera setup with a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor, and a 12MP Sony IMX363 ultrawide angle lens. The phone also features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor with support for gesture controls.
