New Update Arrives for the Pixel 6a

One of the main advantages of investing in a Google Pixel smartphone is that the device tends to get regular software updates and bug fixes. As such, a new update has finally arrived for the recently-launched Google Pixel 6a, and is now available in several regions.

In what is officially the first update for the device, the new software patch comes with the latest June 2022 security patch. It’s been noted by some users online that their 6a units have yet to receive the latest software build, with some phones still stuck on the April 2022 software version. The update is available for the following regional variants of the phone with the respective software version number:

Launched this month, the Pixel 6a features Google’s first-generation Tensor chip, which was the same SoC used in last year’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. It comes with a smaller 6.1-inch OLED display, a pair of 12-megapixel cameras on the rear, 128GB of internal storage, 6GB of RAM, IP67 dust and water resistance, and a 4,410 mAh battery. The phone is priced at $449, and competes mainly against other mid-range Android phones like the Nothing Phone 1, and Samsung Galaxy A53.

The update should gradually roll out, so some users might get the update ahead of others, depending on their region.
