Like any other social media platform, TikTok allows users to tag others in their videos. It is usually meant to tag people or brands featured in the video or anyone who may have something to do with it. But as it happens on the internet, there are accounts that misuse the feature and start tagging anyone at random. Many times it is done through bot accounts.
This results in spam notifications where users find themselves getting tagged in videos of stranger accounts. The issue seems to have increased significantly on TikTok over the last week as a number of users have complained about the same on Twitter. The company is yet to offer a statement and release a fix for these bot accounts. In the meantime, here is how you can untag yourself from spammy and unwanted TikTok videos.

Untag yourself from a TikTok video:
- Open TikTok on your device and tap the Inbox icon.
- Visit the All Activity tab and tap the arrow next to it.
- Tap the Mentions and Tags option and look for the unwanted video from where you want to untag yourself.
- When the video is opened, tap the tags icon next to the username and choose Remove Tag.
This will remove your tag from the selected video. However, this is a process that works for only one video at a time. It means if you have been tagged in multiple videos, you will have to repeat these steps for each one of them.
TikTok does allow you to set your privacy settings in a way that stranger accounts are unable to tag you in their videos.
- Open TikTok and visit your profile page.
- Visit Settings and Privacy followed by Privacy.
- Tap the Mention and Tags setting and choose your desired setting: Everyone, People you follow, Friends, and No one.
This is how you can get some control over who gets to tag you in TikTok videos.
