In the past few years, smartphone manufacturers have used the power of artificial intelligence not only for enhancing the performance of smartphone hardware but as a means to improve camera quality as well. Most recently, Samsung has launched its newest photo editing app, which the company calls “Galaxy Enhance-X.”
Unlike most photo editing apps which let you merely add filters, Galaxy Enhance-X will let you adjust more in-depth photo qualities light contrast, dynamic range, sharpness, tweak accidental blurring, and more. Faces in photos can also be adjusted thanks to AI elements which are made possible with a single tap. Final outputs will be saved in a JPEG format on your device.
As per Samsung’s description, “AI based techniques can be invoked by a user to both repair and enhance the images stored in the gallery. One can remove unwanted Blur, Reflections and at the same time also Sharpen and Upscale Resolution, Improve Dynamic Range and brighten photos captured in low lighting conditions.”
Samsung users will be able to download the app via the Galaxy Store. Currently, the app only works exclusively on Samsung phones, and there’s no word from the company if the app will make its way to more devices and brands in the future.
