Samsung’s Expert RAW feature for older devices has been delayed

When Samsung introduced the Galaxy S22 smartphones earlier this year, they also revealed that one of the features of the upcoming phones is an app called Expert RAW. This is meant to give users more control over the final image taken by the phone’s cameras, similar to how some photographers choose to capture images in the RAW format on their DSLR or mirrorless cameras.

The company later revealed a timeline for the release of the feature for some of its older flagship phones, but unfortunately it looks like some devices will not be getting it just yet. The company had initially intended to release Expert RAW for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 2 in the first half of 2022.

Now that we’re in July, clearly that has passed. In a post on the Korean Samsung community forum, it seems that the release of Expert RAW for those phones has been changed. Assuming the Google translation of the post is accurate, Samsung has delayed the release of the feature and appears to be planning to release it in September.

We’re sure that some users might be a bit bummed by the delay, but we suppose better to delay it than to push out a buggy release. Either way, this means that users will have to wait for another two more months, assuming nothing goes wrong until then.
