Carl Pei’s “Nothing” brand has certainly done an impressive job of building up hype and anticipation for its first-ever handset, the Nothing Phone (1). The past few months have led to numerous speculations and discussions about the upcoming smartphone, which has so far been a divisive topic.

As such, a new promotional video (linked above) released by the company highlights some hardware aspects of the phone, and it seems to confirm speculations that the phone will come with an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is briefly seen during the clip. This is also confirmed by the brand’s official TikTok page, which features a video of the fingerprint scanner during usage. The video also gives a sneak peek behind manufacturing and development procedures for the phone.

So far, the biggest highlight of the phone is its design, which comes with a rather unique-looking LED lighting system on the back, as well as a transparent rear panel. As for hardware specs, the phone comes with a rather decidedly mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ chipset, although not much else about the device was made public.

The Nothing Phone (1) is expected to launch on July 12, at which point there will probably be a more straightforward way to purchase the handset, as the phone is only available through an invite system. It will face more competition though once Google releases their upcoming Pixel 6a later in July.
