WhatsApp users can now freely transfer chat history across iOS and Android

One of the problems of migrating from iOS to Android and vice versa is that if you use WhatsApp, transferring your chat history can be problematic. This is due to WhatsApp using different storage options across its platform, where the iOS app uses iCloud, while the Android app uses Google Drive.

The good news is that in a post by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, he has announced that WhatsApp users will now be able to transfer their chat histories across platforms. According to Zuckerberg:

“We’re adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption. This is a top requested feature.”

Some of you might recall that prior to this, WhatsApp introduced the ability for iOS users to transfer to Android devices. It was initially only available for Samsung devices, but later opened up to more devices. It was also reported at the start of the year that WhatsApp was working on a way to migrate history from Android to iPhone, and this announcement suggests that it is now available.

So, if you’re an Android user that’s making the jump over to an iPhone, you will be able to quickly and easily transfer your WhatsApp chat history over without any issues.
