One of the “problems” with foldable phones is that because of the way they fold, there is a slight crease in the middle where it folds. This is to be expected and based on the current design and technology, it cannot be completely avoided, but if the rumors are to be believed, Samsung could have found a way.
This is according to a tweet by well-known leakster Ice Universe who claims that for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4, Samsung will somehow be making the crease less obvious and smoother in real life. The leakster claims that the crease will still be there, but it will be less obvious compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
The crease of Galaxy Z Fold4 looks slightly better than Fold3, but you can still see the crease. The screen looks smoother.

To be fair though, the crease on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 isn’t too bad and it’s something that many users are already aware of and have come to accept to a certain degree, like the notch on our smartphones. Obviously in an ideal world there would be no crease, but to achieve that, we’d probably need some kind of new material that won’t exhibit creases when folded.
There is no word on when the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be announced, but it is expected that it will most likely be in August because that’s when the Fold 3 and Flip 3 were announced last year. The event will also most likely see Samsung announce the new Flip 4 alongside the Fold 4, so we have to wonder if this “low crease” display might also be applied to the clamshell phone, but we’ll have to wait to find out.
