TikTok is looking to allow creators to launch live stream subscriptions

0

TikTok is probably one of the most popular social media platforms in existence right now, and it seems that the company is hoping to leverage its popularity by introducing live subscriptions. What this means is that in the future, creators will be able to create a subscription program if their followers want to support their live streams.

“LIVE Subscription is an extension of our efforts to build diversified creator monetization opportunities that suit a range of creator needs. LIVE Subscription gives creators the opportunity to increase their earnings while continuing to grow their community and also provides engaged communities an opportunity to thank their favorite creators on a regular basis.”

According to TikTok, the feature will only be available to select creators this month and is invite-only, but the company is planning to make it available globally over the coming months. If this sounds familiar, it is because there are other platforms like Twitch that already offer something similar.

TikTok says that at launch, followers who are subscribed to a creator’s live streams will be able to get perks like Subscriber Badges, Custom Emotes, and also a Subscriber-Only Chat that will help creators better identify who is a paid subscriber and can respond to them better.

The platform already offers creators ways to earn money through an ad-sharing program, so this is an extension of that that will give creators more ways to earn money through TikTok.
