Following the success of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 in 2021, it was largely expected that Samsung will launch new foldables this year. To no one’s surprise, during the company’s Q1 2022 earnings call, Samsung has confirmed that they are planning on launching new foldables later this year.
To be specific, Samsung has stated that its new foldables will be launching in the second half of the year, but when exactly is anyone’s guess. Based on the company’s launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 in 2021, it’s probably a safe bet to assume that we will be seeing these foldables launch in August 2022, but that’s just speculation on our end.
Also, the company did not confirm which foldables we might be able to expect, but it’s almost a guarantee that we will at the very least see the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4. A recent report has actually suggested that both phones could potentially launch with a lower price tag due to Samsung sourcing batteries from another supplier instead of its SDI subsidiary.
Samsung had also previously shown off concepts of a rollable display, and given that LG was on the cusp of launching a smartphone with a rollable display last year, we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung were to try and fill that void, but whether or not it will happen this year remains to be seen.
