For years, it has been rumored that Google is working on their own smartwatch. It makes a lot of sense, especially since Google makes the platform that powers a number of smartwatches in the market already. Plus, the company makes their own smartphones, tablets, Chromebooks, speakers, and so on, so a watch isn’t entirely out of the question.
The good news is that the wait could soon be over. According to a sighting at the USPTO, it appears that Google has trademarked the “Pixel Watch” name. The trademark covers devices like smartwatches and smartwatch accessories, so it leaves little to the imagination as to what kind of device it might be.
Fueling the rumors and speculation that a Pixel Watch launch is imminent, a recent report has revealed some new alleged real world images of the smartwatch that was apparently left at a restaurant (iPhone 4 flashbacks, anyone?), giving us a glimpse as to what the device could look like.
Not much is known about the Pixel Watch right now, like its hardware specs or features or how it might be different from other smartwatches. All we have are photos to go on right now. Google will be hosting I/O 2022 from the 11-12th of May, so given the leaks and rumors, there’s a very good chance that we could finally learn more about the device then.
