WhatsApp has a “Last Seen” status feature which basically lets users know when the other person was last seen on WhatsApp. It is a useful feature because sometimes, if the Last Seen status was too long ago, there’s a good chance that person’s phone might be off or they’re not using WhatsApp anymore.
But some users have abused the feature to use it as a stalking tool where they know when a user was on WhatsApp. Users can choose to disable the feature, but it also means that they won’t be able to see the Last Seen status for other users, but that could change in a future update to the app.
According to WABetaInfo, they have discovered some changes WhatsApp is making to its Last Seen status feature where in the future, users will be able to choose who can see their status. This means that if you happen to have a very possessive ex or if you don’t want your boss or colleagues to see when you were last on WhatsApp, then you can choose to hide your status from select individuals while others will still be able to see it.
Keep in mind that this feature is still in the works which is why if you don’t see it available to you yet, don’t worry. We’re not sure when the feature is expected to roll out to the public in general, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled.
