Emoji remarks make Google Docs editing a bit more friendly

0

When updating someone else’s document, Google allows you to add a remark or make modification suggestions. Emoji responses will soon be available in Google Docs on the web as a “less formal alternative to comments to express your ideas.”

After highlighting a text, the feedback pill now has a third choice in the middle: Toss in the response. Google’s normal online emoji picker appears, complete with a search area at the top, a category carousel, and a character grid.

Emoji reactions come to Google Docs

Here are some of the new emoji options you can choose from:

  • Emoji set has been upgraded to version 14.0, representing the most recent emoji set with choices to appropriately express your identity.
  • Gender-neutral emojis with gender-modifiable choices
  • Individual emoji skin tones and gender choices are maintained.
  • Character choices do, in fact, sync with Google.

It’s a lot easier than submitting a comment, which already allows you to make a remark and propose emoji via Smart Reply. It comes as Google Meet prepares to launch a similar feature.

Emojis for some, not for all.

Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus will all get emoji reactions in the coming weeks.

Enterprise Essentials, Education Fundamentals, Frontline, and Nonprofits, as well as G Suite Basic and Business clients, are not eligible.
