If you happen to own either the Sony Xperia 1 II or Xperia Pro, then you might want to keep an eye out for software updates. This is because after pushing out the stable Android 12 builds for the Sony Xperia 1 III and the Xperia 5 III last month, Sony has finally gotten around to releasing the update for the Sony Xperia 1 II and Xperia Pro.
Keep in mind that at the moment, the updates are being rolled out to the US variants of the phone. For the Sony Xperia 1 II, it will be for the global single-SIM variant with model number XQ-AT51, while the Xperia Pro version that is receiving the update is for the dual SIM US model with the model number XQ-AQ62.
There is currently no word on when other variants of either handset will receive the update, but presumably it shouldn’t be too far behind since the updates are already in the process of being pushed out, so it’s really only a matter of time. Both the Xperia 1 II and Xperia Pro were released in 2020 and 2021 respectively, so they are still relatively new enough that they are eligible for the Android 12 update.
We can’t speak to whether the Xperia 1 II will receive the Android 13 update when it eventually gets released, but at the very least owners of the handset will be able to enjoy the Android 12 update once it arrives on their devices.
