The Galaxy S22 Ultra is breaking pre-order records

0

If it wasn’t obvious by the constant changing of shipping dates, the Galaxy S22 series is already pretty popular. In fact, head over to Samsung’s website, and if you are trying to pre-order the 256GB Galaxy S22 Ultra, shipping dates are already slipping into the first week of April. Meanwhile, anything other than the 128GB model for the Galaxy S22 Ultra is out of stock over at Amazon.

It seems that the popularity of Samsung’s latest flagship isn’t limited to those of us here in the U.S., as a report from ZDNet claims that just north of 1 million Galaxy S22 models have been pre-ordered in just eight days. This surpasses the previous record set by the Galaxy S8 series, while also selling “more than 300K units on the first day”. And as for that single-day record, that surpasses the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which saw 270,000 pre-orders in the first day in Samsung’s home country of South Korea.

Following up on that, Samsung India confirmed that more than 70,000 pre-bookings have been placed, also setting a “new flagship record”. What makes this even more impressive is that pre-bookings for Samsung’s latest devices didn’t even begin until yesterday, February 23.

We are grateful to our consumers for the overwhelming response to the new Galaxy S22 series. Pre-Orders for Galaxy S22 series are extremely encouraging and we are committed to getting these devices to our customers as early as possible,” said Aditya Babbar, Senior Director and Head of Product Marketing, Samsung India.

With three different devices available, you might be wondering which of the three is the most popular. According to the piece from ZDNet, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has accounted for “60% of the pre-opening volume”. It should really come as no surprise given that this is really the new Galaxy Note and while the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s S Pen support was great, it’s a different experience entirely when you don’t need a case to carry the S Pen with you.
