So rumor has it that Google has been working on a foldable Pixel smartphone for a while, but the handset has yet to debut. Will 2022 be the year we can finally see it launch? Perhaps, or at least that’s what DSCC CEO Ross Young believes in his latest tweet about the handset.
According to Young, he claims that Google is expected to launch the phone in the fourth quarter of 2022. Young says that production of the foldable display panels for the phone will kick off in the third-quarter of the year, making it ripe for the phone’s launch in the next quarter.
It's back! Looks like Google's foldable Pixel will start panel production in Q3'22 and launch in Q4'22.

Young’s claims shouldn’t really be too surprising because the Google Pixel 6 series was launched in October which is the fourth quarter of the year. So Google choosing to launch their foldable Pixel alongside the Pixel 7 series makes a lot of sense.
Unfortunately, not much else is known about the foldable Pixel right now. It is unclear if the handset will be powered by Google’s Tensor chipset or if Google could stick to a tried-and-tested chipset like those made by Qualcomm. We have heard rumors about how it might be priced around the $1,400 mark which isn’t too bad considering there are foldables out there that are more expensive.
That being said, Q4 is still quite a long ways off so take this report with a grain of salt for now.
