2022 could shape up to be quite a busy year for Motorola, as we’ve heard leaks about a potential Galaxy Z Flip 3 competitor with true flagship specs, and the Moto Edge 30 Ultra could arrive to compete with the Galaxy S22 Ultra. But there’s another device reportedly in the works, known as the Motorola “Frontier 22”, which could launch later this year and blow everyone away.
The Frontier has been rumored before, and now WinFuture has not only shared a render of the device, but is also providing more information in regards to the specs of the phone. According to this latest leak, the Motorola Frontier 22 will be powered by an unannounced Qualcomm chip, likely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 “Plus”. This will be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The phone is also likely to sport a curved OLED display, looking similar to other devices like the Galaxy S21 and Pixel 6, complete with a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. The display is said to sport a Full HD+ resolution, while measuring in at 6.67-inches and feature a 144Hz refresh rate.
Moving to the back of the phone, things really start to get interesting. Not only will the phone offer a triple-camera setup, but this could end up being the world’s first commercially available phone using a 200MP lens, complete with OIS. This will be accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide camera, along with a 12MP telephoto sensor using 2x optical zoom.
Other features rumored for the Frontier 22 include Wi-Fi 6E support, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and a 4,500mAh battery. But this is another area where this phone might surprise some. According to this leak, Motorola could offer up to 50W wireless charging speeds and up to 125W wired charging speeds, something that would just be incredible.
While it’s great to see the rumor mill churning for a new phone, the Frontier 22 might still be a little ways away. According to WinFuture, the phone won’t make its debut until some in July, and it could be limited to a European and German release.
