Let the hype train begin: Samsung confirms the Galaxy S22 is being unveiled in February

0

Samsung must have gotten tired of the leaks and rumors because the company has opened the floodgates. In a blog post, President of Business, Dr. TM Roh, revealed that the “most noteworthy S device” will be unveiled in February. While this doesn’t give us an exact date, pretty much all of the leaks and rumors point to an event on February 9 with the devices officially going on sale beginning at the end of the month.

A lot of this stuff is just fluff to start building up the hype train leading up the event. It’s a tactic that is consistently used by many phone makers, including Samsung. But when you actually read what the blog post says, there are a few things that we can surmise without needing to look at the leaks or rumors.

For one, the blog post has a two-paragraph section talking about the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Z Fold series of phones, including how innovative the S Pen has come. There are also little nuggets dropped throughout the entire post, suggesting that at least one of Samsung’s upcoming devices will truly replace the Galaxy Note for good. Roh even mentions how fans were disappointed and “surprised when Samsung didn’t release a new Galaxy Note last year”.

We know many of you were surprised when Samsung didn’t release a new Galaxy Note last year. You loved the unparalleled creativity and efficiency of the Galaxy Note series, which enabled you to switch from gaming nirvana to high-octane productivity in the blink of an eye. You raved about the lifelike S Pen, which many say rivals putting ink to paper. And we haven’t forgotten about these experiences you love.

Truthfully, there are a lot more than just a couple of cues pointing to the S Pen returning with the Galaxy S22 lineup. But the blog post wraps up talking about how this will be the “smartest Galaxy experience yet”. This could be a nod towards the Exynos 2200 which was just announced, or it could just be the combination of having either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the Exynos 2200. What remains to be seen is how well Samsung has integrated the AI experience for not just the camera system, but also the overall experience.

Along with confirming the upcoming event, Samsung has also confirmed to various outlets that you will be able to take advantage of a “Reserve Now” pre-order offer. This will provide you with a $50 credit towards accessories, and you’ll be amongst the first to be able to actually place your order once the devices are unveiled. This offer will kick off tomorrow (Friday) at 10 AM ET, so we’ll be sure to provide more information once it’s made available.
