Samsung begins updating Good Lock as we near the Android 12 release

0

If you own one of the newer Samsung Galaxy phones, especially the Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Flip 3, you should have Good Lock installed. This app contains a series of modules that provide more fine-tuned control over the customization and overall usability of your Galaxy phones.

Samsung has been hard at work, developing and relying on beta testers to try out One UI 4.0, which is based on Android 12. Now that the beta program has been available for around a month for Galaxy S21 owners, and a week for the foldable phones, Samsung is working on updating its apps, like Good Lock, with support.

The latest update to Good Lock brings changes to a couple of the modules within the app, QuickStar and One Hand Operation+. With Quick Star, as noted by Android Police, it seems that Samsung has fixed one of the more frustrating issues if you use the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and pin apps using the Edge bar. Previously, when using the Edge bar, your status bar icons would also be shifted.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, but because of the under-display selfie camera, the icons would be shifted even further to account for the camera. With this update to Quick Star, that’s no longer a problem, as you can properly disable icons from appearing in the Status Bar, plus it means that you won’t have to worry about odd gaps placed at the top of your screen.

As for the update to One Hand Operation+, Samsung is bringing the Material You dynamic theming to the module. Plus, there are a few new toggles to choose from, including Do Not Disturb and NFC. Both of these modules, plus Good Lock itself, are receiving the update now. Once it arrives, you shouldn’t run into many more bugs if you’re already running the One UI 4 beta, so maybe this means we’re getting closer to the final release.
